Chocolate Peanut Butter Protein Smoothie: 5-Min Quick Breakfast

  • Author: Emily
  • Total Time: 5 minutes
  • Yield: 1 serving 1x

Description

A thick, creamy, and delicious 5-minute breakfast smoothie that tastes like a chocolate peanut butter cup but is packed with protein to keep you full until lunch.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 large frozen banana (about 120g)
  • 1 cup milk (unsweetened almond milk recommended)
  • 1/2 cup ice (optional, if banana is not frozen)
  • 2 tablespoons peanut butter (creamy or crunchy)
  • 1 tablespoon unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 scoop chocolate protein powder (whey, casein, or plant-based)
  • 1 handful spinach (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon chia seeds (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon maple syrup or honey (optional, to taste)
  • Pinch of salt (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prep the banana: Peel and freeze a banana for at least 4 hours or overnight. If in a rush, chop a fresh banana and freeze for 15 minutes.
  2. Add liquids to the blender: Pour 1 cup of milk into the blender first to help the blades spin freely.
  3. Add wet ingredients: Add the peanut butter and frozen banana pieces. If using spinach or chia seeds, add them now.
  4. Add dry ingredients: Sprinkle in the cocoa powder and protein powder on top.
  5. Blend: Start on low speed for 10 seconds, then increase to high speed. Blend for 45-60 seconds until completely smooth.
  6. Taste and adjust: Check consistency and sweetness. Add more milk if too thick, or ice/sweetener if needed.
  7. Serve immediately: Pour into a glass or travel mug and drink right away for the best texture.

Notes

For best texture, use a frozen banana. If using fresh banana, add ice. Natural peanut butter should be stirred well before measuring. Smoothies are best consumed immediately as they separate over time. If storing, keep in an airtight jar in the fridge for up to 24 hours and shake well before drinking.
