Description
A homemade pumpkin spice latte that tastes like autumn in a mug. This recipe uses real pumpkin puree, toasted spices, and frothed milk for a balanced, coffee-shop quality drink ready in just 10 minutes.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1/2 cup (120g) 100% Pure Pumpkin Puree
- 3 tablespoons (45ml) Maple Syrup
- 2 tablespoons (30ml) Heavy Cream or Whole Milk
- 1 teaspoon (2g) Pumpkin Pie Spice
- 1/2 teaspoon (2.5ml) Vanilla Extract
- 2 shots (60ml) Espresso or Strong Coffee
- 1 cup (240ml) Milk of Choice (e.g., Oat, Almond, Dairy)
- Whipped Cream (Optional, for garnish)
- Extra Pumpkin Pie Spice (For garnish)
Instructions
- In a small saucepan over medium-low heat, combine pumpkin puree, maple syrup, heavy cream (or milk), pumpkin pie spice, and vanilla extract.
- Whisk constantly for 2-3 minutes until the mixture is warm, smooth, and combined. Do not boil. Remove from heat.
- Brew espresso or strong coffee and pour it into your mug.
- Heat milk in the microwave or on the stove until steaming but not boiling (around 150°F/65°C).
- Froth the milk using a handheld frother or steam wand until creamy and slightly foamy.
- Stir 2-3 tablespoons of the pumpkin spice syrup into the hot coffee.
- Slowly pour the frothed milk over the coffee, holding back foam with a spoon if desired, then spoon foam on top.
- Garnish with whipped cream and a pinch of pumpkin pie spice. Serve immediately.
Notes
Ensure you use 100% pure pumpkin puree, not pumpkin pie filling. Toast spices in a dry pan for 30 seconds to revive flavor if they are old. Do not boil the milk or the pumpkin syrup to avoid scalding or separation. The syrup can be stored in the fridge for up to 5 days.
