Description
A simple, smoky, and sweet summer dessert made by grilling ripe peaches until caramelized and drizzling them with honey. It’s ready in about 15 minutes and pairs perfectly with ice cream or yogurt.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 large ripe peaches
- 1 tablespoon neutral oil (such as canola or light olive oil)
- 2–3 tablespoons honey or maple syrup
- 1 teaspoon fresh lemon juice
- Vanilla ice cream or gelato (optional, for serving)
- Fresh mint leaves (optional, for garnish)
- Crumbled feta or goat cheese (optional, for serving)
- Whipped cream (optional, for serving)
- Crushed toasted nuts like almonds or pecans (optional, for serving)
Instructions
- Preheat your grill to medium-high heat (around 400°F/200°C). For gas grills, turn burners to high and close the lid for 10-15 minutes. For charcoal, wait until covered in gray ash.
- Wash the peaches thoroughly. Cut them in half lengthwise around the pit and twist to separate. Use a spoon to scoop out the pits.
- Lightly brush the cut side of each peach half with neutral oil to prevent sticking and aid caramelization.
- Place peaches cut-side down on the grill grates. Do not move them for 3-4 minutes to allow char marks to form and the fruit to release naturally.
- Check for dark brown grill marks, then flip the peaches. Grill the other side for 2-3 minutes just to warm the fruit through.
- Remove peaches from the grill and place them cut-side up in a serving dish.
- Immediately drizzle with honey and a squeeze of lemon juice. The heat will melt the honey into a glaze.
- Serve immediately with desired toppings such as vanilla ice cream, fresh mint, crumbled cheese, or crushed nuts.
Notes
Ensure peaches are ripe but not mushy for best results. Do not overcrowd the grill to allow for proper caramelization. If using a grill pan indoors, ensure good ventilation. Peaches are best served immediately but can be stored in the fridge for up to 2 days.
