Smoked Football Brownies with Chocolate Laces

  • Author: Emily
  • Total Time: 2 hours
  • Yield: 12-15 servings 1x

Description

Fudgy, smoky brownies baked in a smoker and decorated with chocolate laces, perfect for tailgating and game day.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 box (18.25 oz / 517g) High-Quality Brownie Mix
  • 3 Extra Large Eggs (room temperature)
  • 1/3 cup (80ml) Vegetable or Canola Oil
  • 1/2 tsp Smoked Sea Salt
  • 1 cup (170g) Dark Chocolate Chips
  • 1 tbsp (14g) Coconut Oil or Shortening
  • Wood Pellets or Chips (Hickory or Apple)

Instructions

  1. Preheat smoker to 350°F (175°F) with wood chips/pellets for indirect heat.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk eggs, oil, and water (if required by mix) until combined.
  3. Stir in brownie mix until just incorporated; do not overmix.
  4. Fold in smoked sea salt.
  5. Pour batter into a greased 9×9 inch baking pan lined with parchment paper.
  6. Place pan in smoker away from direct heat. Close lid and do not open for first 20 minutes.
  7. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out with moist crumbs.
  8. Cool completely in pan on a wire rack for at least 1 hour.
  9. Lift brownies out using parchment and cut into football shapes using cookie cutters.
  10. Melt dark chocolate chips and coconut oil in microwave intervals until smooth.
  11. Drizzle chocolate over brownies and drag a fork or toothpick through to create lace pattern.
  12. Let laces set before serving.

Notes

Ensure brownies are completely cool before cutting and decorating to prevent crumbling. Hickory wood provides a bold smoke flavor that pairs well with chocolate. For make-ahead prep, freeze the brownie slab before cutting.
