Description
A simple, healthy, and indulgent sugar-free snack made with just five ingredients. This crunchy, bitter-sweet bark satisfies late-night cravings without the sugar crash.
Ingredients
Scale
- 8 ounces (225g) Dark Chocolate Chips or Chunks (at least 70% cocoa, preferably 85% sugar-free)
- 1 cup (140g) Raw Almonds
- 1 teaspoon Sea Salt Flakes
- ½ teaspoon Vanilla Extract
- 2 tablespoons Unsweetened Coconut Flakes (Optional)
Instructions
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and have almonds and salt measured and ready.
- Toast raw almonds in a dry skillet over medium heat for 3-5 minutes until fragrant and golden. Remove and let cool completely.
- Break chocolate into chunks and place in a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave on high for 30 seconds, then stir. Continue microwaving in 15-second intervals, stirring after each, until mostly melted. Stir in vanilla extract.
- Pour melted chocolate onto the prepared parchment paper and spread into an even layer about ¼ inch thick.
- While chocolate is still wet, sprinkle toasted almonds evenly over the surface, pressing gently to adhere. Sprinkle sea salt flakes on top.
- Place the baking sheet in the freezer for 15-20 minutes until the chocolate is hard and crisp.
- Remove from freezer, lift the parchment paper, and break the bark into irregular shards.
Notes
Do not overheat the chocolate as it can seize. Toasting the almonds enhances flavor. Use flaky sea salt for better texture and presentation. Store in an airtight container in the freezer for up to 3 months to prevent melting or absorbing odors.
