Electrolyte Hydration Drink: 3-Ingredient Best Post-Workout Recipe

  • Author: Emily
  • Total Time: 5 minutes
  • Yield: 1 serving (32 ounces) 1x

Description

A simple, refreshing, and budget-friendly homemade electrolyte drink made with sea salt, fresh lemon juice, and a natural sweetener. Perfect for post-workout recovery and hydration without artificial additives.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 32 ounces (1 liter) cold water
  • 34 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
  • 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon sea salt (or Himalayan pink salt)
  • 12 tablespoons natural sweetener (raw honey, maple syrup, or stevia)
  • 12 tablespoons potassium source (coconut water or potassium citrate powder, optional)

Instructions

  1. Wash two lemons thoroughly and roll them on the counter to break internal membranes.
  2. Cut lemons in half and squeeze juice into a glass or shaker bottle, aiming for 3-4 tablespoons of fresh juice.
  3. Add sea salt and sweetener to the lemon juice. If using honey, add a splash of warm water first to help it melt.
  4. Stir vigorously for 10 seconds until the salt and sweetener are completely dissolved.
  5. Fill the rest of the glass with cold water. If using coconut water or potassium citrate powder, add it now.
  6. Stir again and taste the mixture.
  7. Adjust to taste: add more sweetener if too sour, more salt if too sweet, or more water if too salty.
  8. Serve immediately over ice, optionally adding fresh mint or cucumber juice.

Notes

Use fresh lemon juice for best flavor; bottled juice has a metallic taste. Sea salt dissolves better than table salt. Store in the refrigerator for up to 2 days, but best consumed fresh. Can be made sugar-free by using stevia or monk fruit.
